Multimedia journalist Cayla Sweazie grew up in a family full of athletes, with an extreme love for sports. She knew that her days on the diamond would eventually come to an end, but her passion for sports never would. Sweazie intentionally joined her high school’s journalism courses, where she helped create an award winning docu-series highlighting the competitive basketball program at her HS. This experience laid the foundation for her journalism career.

Attending Morgan State University, in Baltimore Maryland, Sweazie was drawn to the vibrant city, competitive softball program and journalism opportunities. In just three years she became a member of Bear TV and the university newspaper while also helping lead the softball team to their first conference championship. Sweazie graduated summa cum laude, a year early after her ESPN internship turned into a full time role.

Sweazie relocated to Bristol, Connecticut to work at the ESPN headquarters. She spent five years growing across multiple roles including production assistant and social media associate. She later signed a talent contract as an on-air contributor covering women’s and college sports, one of the proudest moments of her career.

Sweazie is also a freelance sideline reporter and softball color analyst. With a passion for college football, she covers NCAA games in the fall while also making time to go watch her younger brother’s collegiate games. With her extensive softball insight, she has called games for the MAAC, ACC and the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship. She also worked as the beat reporter for the Talons in 2025, the inaugural champions of the Athlete Unlimited Softball League.

Beyond broadcasting, she has built an engaged community of 15K+ followers on social media, with her content rooted in sports. Whether she’s sharing game day vlogs, daily life in the DMV or what she is reading, her goal is to create a welcoming space for all sports fans!
